WASHINGTON – Hundreds of Obama supporters chanting “four more years,” waving Obama campaign posters and wearing T-shirts with the president’s face, swarmed outside the White House gates early Wednesday morning.

Clusters of people erupted into singing the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America,” while other scrums of strangers jumped up and down – sharing their joy together.

It was not uncommon for random strangers to give each other high fives or hugs. Some people climbed into trees and waved American flags.

The crowd was mostly younger voters in their 20s and 30s, but older voters also made their way to Pennsylvania Avenue to join the impromptu rally.

Abhi Rao, 31, of Northern Virginia voted for President Barack Obama on Election Day. When she found out he won, she rushed to the White House.

“I’m super excited for this reelection,” Rao yelled above repeated chants of “Obama.”

“I think it will be the beginning of a whole new process that will make the last four years really come to fruition, so everyone is excited here in D.C. and across the world if you haven’t noticed.”
