Veterans fast-tracked as D.C. homelessness skyrockets
The authority hasn't received vouchers for non- veteran homeless people in roughly 7 years. A special joint program between the departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development received congressional funding for 60 to 70 homeless veterans, already screened by VA, to participate in the Veterans Assisted Supportive Housing program on Wednesday.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray announced the launch of a new smartphone app version of the city's 311 hotline. Gripes about potholes, unshoveled snow, graffiti or other municiple issues can now forego a phonecall and file a report online. "DC311," which is free for iPhone and Android, allows users to snap a photo to attach to their complaint.

Mayor: D.C.'s 'modern' streetcars deal solidifies 2013 plans
The District Department of Transportation selected Oregon Iron Works, Inc. to build two streetcars, which the city describes as "modern," according to a recent release, to run with three cars the city already owns. The new network includes a line along the H Street corridor in Northeast.
