D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray has rejected a plan by the city's taxi commission for a surcharge on some fares during Washington Nationals playoff games, WTOP has learned.
"D.C. has been just a particularly difficult place to do business. It's easier to do business in Paris than it is in the District," Uber Chief Executive Officer Travis Kalanick.
"The regulations require that the passenger may request air conditioning be put on if it's not on when they get in the cab," Ron Linton, chairman of the D.C. Taxicab Commission.
Officials are expecting taxi rides in the District of Columbia to soon be more expensive.
The D.C. Taxicab Commission says that seven passengers have been attacked by their drivers over the past few weeks.
