Two dead in Gaithersburg car accident

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police officers are investigating a double fatal, single-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday morning in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., officers and emergency personnel went to the 22200 block of Woodfield Road for a single-vehicle collision. They found an overturned Ford Explorer.

The 2003 Ford Explorer was traveling south on Woodfield Road when it went into the northbound lanes of Woodfield Road, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The vehicle overturned before it stopped.

The driver and front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The rear- seat passenger, who was able to call “911,” was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All occupants were adult men. Their names and ages will not be released until their families are notified.
