Funny journalists?? An oxymoron??

Not at all! That's part of what Commedia dell Media is about. Journalists doing stand-up to put the "fun" back into fundraising. Raising money and awareness about Writopia Lab a non-profit organization that holds after-school, weekend, and summer creative writing workshops for kids ages 8 to 18. And Reach Incorporated which hires and trains older students to tutor younger students.

Art is in the glass of the beholder!

Especially when one is speaking of an ARTINI! This spring, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design's 1869 Society presents the fifth annual ARTINI. This special March long event celebrates the 20th year of ArtReach, the Corcoran's community art program providing high-quality visual arts education for local community youth. Throughout the month of March, 12 of the city's most creative mixologists compete to make the most artistic martini inspired by works in the Corcoran collection. The celebration culminates at the ARTINI cocktail party on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are on sale now.

Presidents' day FREE festivities at Ford's

Ford's Theatre will celebrate Presidents' Day and the opening of the Center for Education and Leadership with a day of free programming and activities. Over the course of the day, visitors can attend an author discussion by Tony Horwitz (Midnight Rising and Confederates in the Attic), ranger talks, and performances of Papa Day, Tales of the Lincoln with storyteller Jon Spelman and One Destiny. Visitors can also view the Center's new exhibits, participate in workshops with the Education Department and enjoy scavenger hunts and prize drawings.
