Black history on the Wall

In observance of Black History Month, the Vietnam Memorial Fund (VVMF) has been highlighting the great contributions African American Servicemen and Women made to the Vietnam War. Including a video featuring Brigadier General George Price, USA (Ret.), telling the story of Captain Riley Pitts, the first African American officer to receive the Medal of Honor.

There is a winner already

Even though the nominations for the Helen Hayes Awards have just been announced there is already a DC Theatre company celebrating a win! TheatreWashington Chairman Victor Shargai announced the recipient of the John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company.

The Oscars are over but the Helens are next!

The "Helens" are the Helen Hayes Awards produced by TheatreWashington.org" . The nominations for this year's awards have been announced and can be found here . The Helen Hayes Awards Gala is April 23rd at the Warner Theatre. It is always a star studded night for the Washington Theatre community.

Funny journalists?? An oxymoron??

Not at all! That's part of what Commedia dell Media is about. Journalists doing stand-up to put the "fun" back into fundraising. Raising money and awareness about Writopia Lab a non-profit organization that holds after-school, weekend, and summer creative writing workshops for kids ages 8 to 18. And Reach Incorporated which hires and trains older students to tutor younger students.

This special March long event celebrates the 20th year of ArtReach, the Corcoran's community art program providing high-quality visual arts education for local community youth.
