and it appears that this past week's attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Record for the "Largest all-trombone orchestra" was SUCCESSFUL at National's Park thanks to FAME (The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc.), which along with Arena Stage aims to focus awareness on the musical education needs of children in the greater DC Metro area.

AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural was the host for the fourth annual Lights, Camera, Literacy film festival featuring movies written, directed and produced by local students. The films are made by Silver Spring International Middle Schoolers ages 11 through 13. They include silent films, documentaries and short films.

There are hundreds of trombones headed to Nat's Park this Friday afternoon. Inspired by the signature song "76 Trombones" from their current production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man, Arena Stage is aiming to bring together more than 500 trombone players on Friday, June 1, at the Washington Nationals Park to set the world record for largest all-trombone orchestra. Partnering with FAME (The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc.), Arena Stage aims to focus awareness on the musical education needs of children in the greater DC Metro area.
