June 29: Where the Job Growth Is

Over the last year, the Washington region saw the vast majority of its job growth, 17,000 of 25,000 jobs, in professional and business services. The Connection Newspapers says the local economy saw its most job losses over the last year, approximately 7,000, in the construction industry. Northern Virginia's economy mirrored the rest of region. The connection says In Northern Virginia, 8,000 of the 14,200 new jobs created came in business and professional services.
