BEL ALTON, Md. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 52-year-old woman whose body was found near the shoreline of a river in Charles County.
The county sheriff's office and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources found Barbara Ann Wood on Thursday after responding to a report of a body in the river. Wood's body was found near the Port Tobacco River in Bel Alton.
Authorities say there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. The Washington Post reports that an investigation into the death continues pending an autopsy.
