WASHINGTON - Mother's Day is just around the corner. Are you ready to lavish your mom with presents?
If the answer is no, think again. According to a recent RetailMeNot.com poll, 73 percent of moms are hoping for a gift on their special day. And don't expect dad to do the purchasing on your behalf - 42 percent of spouses surveyed do not intend to buy presents.
So that leaves children, young and old, responsible for making the woman who brought them into this world happy on Sunday.
The majority of mom respondents said they are hoping for something that costs money. Spa treatments, gift cards and flowers were the most popular presents among mothers. When it comes to meals, skip the breakfast in bed. Only 7 percent of moms want that. The rest hope for a fancy dinner or brunch, instead.
Most people plan on spending $100 or less this year, which means it's time to get creative. RetailMeNot.com has compiled a list of gift suggestions to win mothers over. Here are just a few:
- For the tea drinking mom, try the BeautyTea Set from BijaBody for $30
- For the new mom, offer a little luxury and relaxation with the Mommy Tillia 3-Piece Gift Set by Avon for $18
- The gardening mom would appreciate waterproof Okabashi Clogs for $15.99
- A mom who loves to host might like this retro Beehive Drink Dispenser for $39.95
