New site finds, rates Foursquare deals in D.C.

WASHINGTON – Free is always good, right? But how do you know if it’s really a good deal?

Poorsquare is a new site that ranks Foursquare deals with a green, yellow or red light based on whether they’re worth the trip.

Visitors to the site can select Washington, D.C. from the list of 85 cities, then further refine the search by a particular neighborhood or Zip code and by whether they’re alone or with friends.

Some of the green-lighted deals include free coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts, as well as free appetizers or drinks at local bars and restaurants.

A jewelery deal with an asterisk that said exclusions apply earned a red light, while a deal for half-off an appetizer with a Foursquare check-in received a yellow light.

The developers put it together in less than a day and say there’s an iPhone and iPad app coming soon.
