WASHINGTON -- Improving your vehicle's gas mileage can help save money and cut expenses.
Lots of smartphone apps track fuel economy, such as CarEconomy and Fuelculator.
And numbers of gas-saving apps adjust to work in multiple vehicles, such as Road Trip Lite, which tracks fuel economy and maintenance schedules and can exchange information with Microsoft Office.
The smartphone app called MyMPG helps train you to drive in a more fuel-efficient manner. It sounds an alarm, for example, when drivers make jackrabbit starts or slam on the brakes.
Another app that helps improve gas mileage keeps track of your vehicle's maintenance schedule. Gas Cubby lets you customize reminders for things such as oil changes and air filters.
This Forbes list of free gas-saving apps from iTunes includes several that automatically track your vehicle's fuel economy, such as Gas Manager and CarEconomy.
Apps that find cheap gas include AAA Triptik Mobile and Local Gas Prices.
All these apps are free at the iTunes App Store.
