WASHINGTON - A new smartphone application could help speed up trips through security by guiding travelers through the airport security process.
The My TSA app allows users to punch in their airports and see what the average wait time is at security, and so much more.
There are plenty of tidbits about what you can and cannot do. One of the little icons on the app is called, "Can I bring?" It's all about what travelers can and cannot bring through the security checkpoint.
It also breaks down commonly asked questions, such as what to do about boxed gifts and whether it's possible to take a cake or pie through security. (It is. Gravy, jelly and jam, however, will not make it, if they are more than 3.4 oz.) For a complete this of what foods with which you can travel, click here.
The app, designed by the Transportation Security Administration, is free.
