WASHINGTON - Buying an electric car can be quite an investment, deciding which one is right can be a simple one.

The Virtual Vehicle Co. designed a Smartphone app that logs data about a driver's regular habits and then produces hypothetical results of how an electric car would handle the same trip.

The Virtual Test Drive app monitors factors such as distance, hills and acceleration. It is presently available to beta testers.

After running the application during a normal commute, users can upload the data to view the results of the electric car alternative.
