Birth stats suggest D.C. stayed busy during shutdown

WASHINGTON — When the federal government shut down in October, there was a lot of debate over how much of an effect it would have.

Well, it’s been nine months since then, and there’s no question it had one long-lasting effect: NBC News says that Sibley Memorial Hospital reports that live births are up three per day.

The jokes write themselves, but it’s going to be hard to top Brian Williams’ take:
