WASHINGTON -- For a lion king, Simba sure looks like a cash cow.
"The Lion King 3D" turned out to be such a surprise box office hit that Disney has decided to dig back into the vault four times over.
"Beauty and the Beast 3D" is the first to come out with a Jan. 13, 2012 release date, followed by "Finding Nemo 3D" on Sept. 14.
The fun continues in 2013, with "Monsters, Inc. 3D" on Jan. 18, culminating with "The Little Mermaid 3D" on June 21.
It's enough re-releases to keep you entertained for much of your second childhood, but why stop there?
Disney has dozens of cartoons just itching to get the 3D treatment.
How about Pinocchio's lying nose growing to within inches of your face?
Or "Dumbo" flying off the trapeze and into your lap?
And who says Disney has to have all the fun turning its backcatalog into a three dimensional cinematic experience?
Keanu Reeves' Neo could pop out of "The Matrix."
The original "Jaws" might make a better 3D movie than "Jaws 3," which actually was released in 3D in the 80s.
And who knows? Dorothy's yellow brick road might look that much more lifelike if it popped out of the screen with the help of those nifty glasses.
