WASHINGTON -- It happens to the best of songs.

You hear them the first, second, or even the tenth time, and you just love them.

But then they pop up on the radio over and over again like clockwork. You start to notice them in commercials. They follow you to the department store public address system.

You can't avoid them!

That's when a song gets "Played Out."

Entertainent Weekly asked former "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell which songs he's sick and tired of hearing in auditions, ahead of the premiere of his new talent competition, "The X Factor."

Almost instantly, he rattled off five:

"'I Believe I Can Fly' is pretty up there. 'At Last,' I'm kind of allergic to that song. Everybody seems to think 'Unchained Melody' is my favorite song of all time. It is not. Jason Mraz, that hit he had a few years ago - I cannot listen to that anymore. Also, 'Ordinary People' by John Legend. They always try to sing it like that version. It's never good."
