WASHINGTON - The Calvert County Sheriff's office is looking for a man they say placed a scanning/skimming device on a SunTrust Bank ATM last week, stealing thousands from customers.

According to officials, an unknown white male placed the skimming device on the automated teller machine outside the bank in the 10000 block of Southern Maryland Blvd. in Dunkirk. The device was used to record customer bank card numbers.

After reviewing security footage, deputies found that the suspect placed the device around 4 p.m. July 23 and removed the device at 8 p.m. July 24.

Southern Maryland Newspapers online reports that around 50 customers had between $550 and $3,000 each stolen from their accounts. The investigation is still open.

Anyone with information, or any additional victims, should call Det. Nick DeFelize of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office at 410-535-1600, ext. 2669.
