Graco strollers recalled after fingertip amputation concerns

WASHINGTON — Graco is recalling several stroller models because they
could cut or amputate a child’s fingertip.

Graco, which specializes in products for babies, issued the recall Friday. It
includes 4.7 million strollers in the United States, more than 200,000 in
Canada and more than 10,000 in Mexico. Recalled products date back to Aug, 1,
2000 through Sept. 25, 2014 and include 11 models and several model numbers
within those categories.

The recall comes after the company received six reports of fingertips being
amputated, four reports of partial amputations and one report about a
laceration after children caught their fingers in a folding hinge on the side
of the stroller.

The models include:

  • Aspen
  • Breeze
  • Capri
  • Cirrus
  • Glider
  • Kite
  • LiteRider
  • Sierra
  • Solara
  • Sterling
  • TravelMate

Within the recalled models, there are several model numbers. To see the full
list, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission
website
.

Customers can also enter their model number here
to see if it’s recalled.

The strollers can be repaired by contacting Graco and getting a free repair
kit. The phone number is (800) 345-4109. While waiting for repair kits,
consumers should be especially careful when folding and unfolding the
stroller, making sure the stroller is locked in place before use.
