Rolling Stone: Dumbest band names ever

The Devil Wears Prada You probably know this band's name as a book and movie starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway - but The Devil Wears Prada makes the list of one of Rolling Stone's dumbest band names. How they've gotten away with it thus far is a mystery. Check out the video for a taste of the band's music.
Natalie Portman's Shaved Head Natalie Portman's Shaved Head is another take from a popular movie (V for Vendetta). In 2010, the band renamed themselves Brite Futures.
Toad the Wet Sprocket The name is taken from the Monty Python sketch "Rock Notes." The sketch includes a mock news report:

"Rex Stardust, lead electric triangle with Toad the Wet Sprocket, has had to have an elbow removed following their recent successful worldwide tour of Finland. Flamboyant ambidextrous Rex apparently fell off the back of a motorcycle."

Dogs Die in Hot Cars Rolling Stone wants to make it clear: Don't ever leave your dog in a hot car for any length of time.

But, also, don't name your band Dogs Die in Hot Cars.
Cherry Poppin' Daddies Rolling Stone reports Cherry Poppin' Daddies took their name from an old blues album. But, even if that's the case, it implies something much more sinister.

Check out one of their most popular hits, "Zoot Suit Riot."
Hoobastank While Rolling Stone says they are OK with made-up names, Hoobastank is going too far. Bands such as Depeche Mode and Duran Duran did it better, according to the magazine.
The Beatles Woah, what? Was this a mistake? Not The Beatles!

No Mistake. Rolling Stone says "the Beatles is a dumb pun. That's all. They took the idea of naming themselves after an insect like the Crickets, but changed the spelling for a pun on musical beats. It's a simple as that."
