Carroll County detectives investigate inmate death

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) — Detectives in Carroll County are investigating the death of an inmate after a man was found unconscious in his cell.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Carroll County Detention Center on Friday for the report of an unconscious inmate. Investigators say 43-year-old Ronnie Mosko of Westminster was found unresponsive in his single-occupancy cell.

Authorities say rescuers provided medical care and took Mosko to a hospital. He was in critical condition until Sunday when he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is under investigation. Sheriff’s officials say preliminary evidence suggests Mosko may have committed suicide.

Mosko had been held since he was arrested last Wednesday for a non-violent domestic offense.
