Police seek witnesses in fatal shooting of toddler

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police are seeking witnesses as they investigate the fatal drive-by shooting of a 3-year-old girl.

Police and city leaders canvassed the neighborhood Saturday along Old York Road with hopes that someone with information would come forward after the shooting on Friday.

Police say they have a person of interest in custody and have confiscated a vehicle in the case.

Investigators say 3-year-old Mckenzie Elliott was shot Friday as she stood on the porch of the house next to hers. It happened when a car pulled up and began shooting at a group of people. Someone in the group shot back. Police say a stray bullet apparently hit the child.

A 21-year-old woman also was injured in the shooting. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
