Monday - 11/11/2013, 11:53am  ET

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake joined a Veterans Day march, and events are being held across Maryland to honor veterans.

The Baltimore parade ran from the Washington Monument to the War Memorial Plaza on Monday morning. Rawlings-Blake spoke at a ceremony to thank veterans, including Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown who served in Iraq and joined the event.

Rawlings-Blake says the nation must support its veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. She also honored a World War II veteran from Baltimore, Thomas Bailey, who died last week at age 96.

Commemorations were held across the state. A group of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts gathered in Gaithersburg for their annual ride to Arlington National Cemetery to honor veterans.

St. Mary's County is hosting a parade in Leonardtown with marching bands, dancers and military units.
