BALTIMORE (AP) -- Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed when a car overturned in front of Baltimore's City Hall.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Marc Black says a trooper was traveling south on I-83 about 2 p.m. Tuesday when a speeding vehicle came up behind him. The trooper pulled over to let the vehicle pass, but the driver pulled over as well, eventually passing the cruiser and exiting onto Pleasant Street.
Black says the car then ran a red light before overturning while attempting to make a turn in front of City Hall and striking 45-year-old Matthew Hershl of Baltimore.
Troopers say Hershl died at Shock Trauma.
Authorities say the trooper took the driver into custody and says charges are expected to be filed.
