Baltimore firefighters talking about smoke alarms

Sunday - 10/14/2012, 12:27pm  ET

BALTIMORE - Firefighters in Baltimore are talking to residents about smoke detectors in the wake of a fire that killed five people including four children.

Firefighters on Sunday will be canvassing Baltimore neighborhoods from noon to 2 p.m. and installing smoke alarms when needed. The fire department says anyone without a smoke alarm can call 311 to ask for a free smoke alarm. Firefighters will come and install an alarm within two hours.

The push for fire alarms comes in the aftermath of a fire in a row house in east Baltimore on Thursday.
