Famous Baltimore film director picked up hitchhiking in Ohio

WASHINGTON – One might hope for a John Waters sighting in Baltimore, but not on the side of I-70 in Ohio.

But that’s where he was, hitchhiking, when the indie rock band Here We Go picked him up on their way to a show in Indiana on Wednesday. The group took a couple of pictures and posted them to Twitter.

“I wasn’t kidding, We really picked up John Waters hitchhiking,” reads a caption that accompanied an Instagram photo.

The band tweeted, “It is absolutely 100% pinky sworn true. He even carries a mixtape to listen to!”

The band says Waters taught them some new words, such as ‘trendsexual’ and ‘blouse,’ and bought them lunch.

In an interview with the Australian publication Star Observer last year, Waters said he likes to hitchhike, “I do still hitchhike – it’s a great way to meet people, and to have sex. I’ve hitchhiked in Baltimore, Provincetown, San Francisco
