BALTIMORE - A 70-year-old woman has died in a house fire in west Baltimore that also injured her daughter.
Baltimore Fire Department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says the fire broke out about 5 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters were able to rescue 43-year-old Cynthia Sewell from the house. She suffered burns and was taken to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview.
Firefighters found Sewell's mother, Brenda Gittings-Sewell, on the second floor. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cartwright says the blaze caused about $75,000 in damage. The cause is under investigation.
