NC State’s Caleb Martin has foot surgery

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State freshman forward Caleb Martin is recovering from surgery to repair a broken right foot.

The school says Martin underwent surgery to repair a fracture in the fifth metatarsal in Martin’s right foot over the weekend. The injury occurred prior for the freshman’s arrival on campus earlier this month.

Martin is expected to recover in 8-12 weeks, which should have him ready before the start of preseason practice.

The 6-foot-6 Martin is part of a three-man freshman class along with twin brother Cody and power forward Abdul-Malik Abu for the Wolfpack, who reached the NCAA tournament for the third time in as many seasons under Mark Gottfried but lost Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year T.J. Warren to the NBA.
