Chattanooga extends deal for women’s coach Foster

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Chattanooga has extended the contract of women’s basketball coach Jim Foster by a year after his debut season with the Mocs.

Athletic director David Blackburn announced Foster’s extension Thursday, extending his contract now through the 2018-19 season and includes a $20,000 raise to $161,690. The extension comes two days after a similar move for men’s coach Will Wade.

Foster, inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame last year, took over the Mocs last year. They went 29-4 matching a school record for wins, winning the Southern Conference title and reaching the NCAA tournament for the 12th time since 1989.

Blackburn says they were fortunate to get someone of Foster’s caliber. He became the 11th coach to win at least 800 career games earlier this year.
