HOUSTON (AP) -- Austin Ramljak and Keith Washington scored 14 points each and led two other Rice players in double figures as the Owls defeated Division II Northwood (Texas) 69-56 on Thursday.
Rice (5-5) trailed by one point at the end of the first half (32-31), but went on an 11-0 run after the break to lead by 10 points with 17:53 left to play. The Knights couldn't get closer than eight for the rest of the matchup.
Sean Obi added 11 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the Owls and Andrew Drone came off the bench to score 10 points.
Rice shot just 29.9 percent (20 of 67) from the floor and 10 of 35 from behind the arc (28.6 percent). The Owls outrebounded Northwood by 14 (52-38) and grabbed eight more offensive rebounds for second-chance shots.
BJ Dale scored a game-high 16 points for the Knights.
