BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) -- Cal State-Bakersfield had five players score in double figures and dominated down low in a 97-54 win over UC-Merced on Monday night.
After George Idehen's 3-point shot tied the game at 5-5, the Roadrunners (1-1) went on a 28-7 run, opening up a 21-point lead and never again leading by less than 17 in the game.
Matt Ratto paced Bakersfield with 15 points, hitting 5 of 6 from behind the arc. Tyrell Corbin, Abdul Ahmed and Erik Kinney each scored 12 in the win. Zech Smith added 10.
Bakersfield out-rebounded the Bobcats 36-18, including 13-4 on the offensive glass. Brandon Barnes had a career-high 13 rebounds.
Issiah Grayson, who redshirted last season due to a knee injury, had seven assists. He ranked 25th in the nation with 5.8 assists per game as a junior in 2011-12.
Griffin Alexander paced Merced with 20 points off the bench.
