BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Former Virginia Tech starter Robert Brown is transferring to UAB.
UAB coach Jerod Haase said Thursday that Brown has signed to play for the Blazers. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard started 25 of 32 games for Virginia Tech last season. He was the Hokies' third-leading scorer, averaging 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Brown also played in all 33 games as a freshman.
He will sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining.
Haase says Brown "fits in perfectly to the up-tempo, fast style of basketball that we want to play."
