HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Brandon Fortenberry scored 26 points and Southeastern Louisiana defeated Lamar 86-72 Saturday, sweeping the season series in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Lions (12-17, 10-8 Southland Conference) have won two straight after a four-game skid. They led by eight early, but the Cardinals pulled ahead 20-18 with 8:01 left until halftime.
Southeastern Louisiana quickly regained the lead on Dre Evans' 3-pointer, but Lamar stayed close until a 6-1 Lions spurt made it 35-28 at halftime.
The Cardinals, who lost the previous contest 67-63 on Jan. 7, trailed by 19 before making it 75-68 with 2:08 remaining, but could get no closer.
Jeffery Ricard added 16 points and Evans 10 for the Lions, who had already clinched the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the league tournament.
Donley Minor's 18 points led Lamar (3-28, 1-17), which has lost eight straight and set a single-season record for losses.
