NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma inside linebacker Jordan Evans was ejected from Saturday night’s game against Louisiana Tech for targeting.

Evans went to make a play on Louisiana Tech quarterback Cody Sokol with 5:04 left in the first quarter. Evans went over Sokol’s head as Sokol ducked to avoid contact. The play was reviewed and the call stood.

Frank Shannon, the usual starter at Evans’ spot, is not on the depth chart because the school is trying to suspend him for a year for what it calls a violation of its rules against sexual assault. A district court judge did not allow Oklahoma to suspend Shannon, and the school is challenging that in the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Shannon is in uniform but has not played.

Caleb Gastelum has moved into the lineup.
