Virginia Tech, WVU to meet at FedEx Field in 2017

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Virginia Tech and West Virginia will renew their football rivalry at FedEx Field in 2017.

The game will be played on Sept. 2, 2017, at the home of the Washington Redskins in Landover, Maryland. FedEx Field officials announced the matchup Tuesday.

It will mark Virginia Tech’s fourth appearance at FedEx Field since 2004. West Virginia played James Madison there in 2012 and also will play BYU at FedEx Field in 2016.

West Virginia and Virginia Tech, both former members of the Big East, last met in 2005.

After 2017, they’ll also play in 2021 in Morgantown, West Virginia, and 2022 in Blacksburg, Virginia.
