A short season is all that remains for Virginia.

The Cavaliers are coming off a bye week and will try to snap a seven-game losing streak when they play at Miami on Saturday. The Hurricanes (7-3, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) have lost three straight, and three straight to Virginia.

The Cavaliers (2-8, 0-6) say their recent history with the Hurricanes has no bearing on this weekend's game, but tight end Jake McGee says finishing with victories in south Florida and then in the finale against Virginia Tech would salvage something positive from a trying season.

Quarterback David Watford agrees. He says the Cavaliers remain a confident team despite their record, and that closing on a high note would carry the team into its winter workouts and spring practice.
