Md. man sold fake BCS, Super Bowl tickets

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A 47-year-old Maryland man has pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit tickets to the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship game and Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.

U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente says Richard McNeal, of Randallstown, Md., admitted Thursday to a charge of trafficking in counterfeit goods.

Federal prosecutors say McNeal traveled to New Orleans on Jan. 8, 2012. Since he could find no hotel room, he went to Picayune, Miss., where he found a room and sold four tickets for $3,000.

McNeal returned to the city Feb. 2 to sell more counterfeit tickets, this time to the Super Bowl.

He was arrested by undercover agents who had arranged to meet McNeal to try to buy tickets.

McNeal will be sentenced on Sept. 19.
