ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County has a female state's attorney for the first time in its history.
Anne Colt Leitess was sworn in Tuesday as the county's top prosecutor. She's spent the last 23 years as an assistant state's attorney in the office.
Her cases have included the death-penalty trial of Scotland Williams, who was convicted 15 years ago in a double murder in Annapolis.
She will serve in the position until the next general election in 2014.
Leitess replaces Frank Weathersbee, who announced last month that he would retire.
