Dead woman, dog found in Maryland home

The cause of death for both the woman and the dog was homicide by multiple stab wounds, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. The dog was a pit bull mix.

EARLIER - Saturday - 3/23/2013, 1:30 p.m. ET

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. - Anne Arundel County police say a woman and a dog were found dead in a Davidsonville home.

Police say the bodies were found about 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 3300 block of Royal Glen Court by two people who went to the home. Police say there were signs of trauma on the woman's body and they are describing her death as suspicious. Authorities say homicide detectives are investigating.

The woman was identified as 37-year-old Nicole Burgess.
