Judge denies new trial for county executive

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - A judge has denied former Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold's motion for a new trial.
The Capital of Annapolis reports (http://bit.ly/VUMyOW) that retired Circuit Court Judge Dennis Sweeney denied the motion on Wednesday, saying the grounds were without merit.
Sweeney convicted Leopold of misconduct in office last month, and Leopold resigned days later. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 14.
