ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - More than 50 organizations across Maryland will be receiving state funding to fight violence against women.

Advocates and community leaders will join Gov. Martin O'Malley, Attorney General Doug Gansler and Sen. Ben Cardin at 4 p.m. on Monday in Annapolis to announce the awards.

The STOP Violence Against Women Act is administered by the governor's office of crime control and prevention. It provides funding to law enforcement, prosecution, the court system and nonprofit, non-government victim service agencies.
