SEVERNA PARK, Md. - Authorities seized more than 60 cats from a Maryland rescue center that was accused of having deplorable conditions.
Anne Arundel County Animal Control, along with numerous other organizations, seized 67 cats from Cool Cats Rescue Center in the 550 block of Benefield Road in Severna Park. Two dead cats were also found.
The animals are in various states of health and will be medically and behaviorally evaluated.
This case is another reminder that we need to be vigilant about the importance of spay and neutering," County Executive John Leopold said in a statement.
"It also highlights the fact that organizations starting with the laudable goal of helping animals can turn into hoarding operations that hurt animals. We hope that citizens will come forward and give these cats good homes."
The cats will be taken to the Animal Control Facility in Millersville, Md.
