ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Seven people will get organs from a 17-year-old girl fatally injured while crossing a highway in Maryland.
Kara Micciche's father tells The Capital of Annapolis that he argued with his daughter about being an organ donor when she got her driver's license but eventually gave in. Joseph Micciche says that it makes him proud to carry out his daughter's wishes.
Micciche and her boyfriend were crossing Governor Ritchie Highway in Anne Arundel County Tuesday night when they were struck by a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. Both were airlifted to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The other teen, Sean Snyder, was listed in critical condition.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the Chevrolet, but an investigation is ongoing.
