After a relatively comfortable summer with few days in the 90s, the season has decided to exit with uncharacteristic sizzle! This Labor Day weekend will get increasingly hotter and more humid as a Bermuda High pumps in moisture-laden air from the south. The likelihood of scattered thunderstorms and some heavy downpours will be highest on Sunday with a somewhat lower chance on Monday. And while the thermometer should stay in the mid 80s today, it will soar to near 90 on Sunday and Monday with even higher readings on Tuesday. A cold front well to our north should approach at midweek, but other than dropping dew points a bit, temperatures won't budge much, falling only to the upper 80s. So closing the books on the summer of 2014 - which actually doesn't happen astronomically until the Fall Equinox on September 23 - is premature. And while we can never hope for an endless summer, with plenty of sultry days head, it would be great if the pools didn't close on Monday! Enjoy your weekend.
