POSITION Summary:
The purpose of this position is to train and grow potential Account Executives for the company. In addition to providing administrative support to Sales Managers and Account Executives including research, presentation and execution of sales promotions, Sales Associate will receive training in aspects of sales and account development. The Sales Associate position may lead to a position as an Account Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Providing general office and clerical support
  • Create graphics and proposals for sales presentations
  • Cover main switchboard
  • Assist sales staff with copy, commercials, invoices and collections, assist with client relations as needed, work closely with all departments (traffic, promotions, production), attend all sales meetings and training sessions
  • Complete sales training program, accompany Account Managers on sales calls, begin to develop new accounts and new advertiser categories (cold calling), write customer-focused proposals for accounts in development, be aware of station procedures, be knowledgeable of stations programming, assets and pricing and service accounts developed and as needed for other Account Managers
  • Become knowledgeable of station’s programming, assets, and pricing
  • Become proficient in all necessary programs including Marketron, PTS, Salesforce, DART, Linker, Adobe Audition, and Microsoft Office

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • One (1) to two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to handle stress effectively
  • Excellent data entry skills, with special attention to detail
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to work established schedule and other hours as needed
  • Above average computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to learn and work hard

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, BUT NOT REQUIRED::

  • Four year college degree in Business, Communications or related field
  • Familiarity with the media industry and Washington D.C. as a market

  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
