Walkersville Community Park assaults may have connection

WASHINGTON– There are similarities between a November 2013 sexual assault in Frederick County and one that occurred on April 6 in the same area, Maryland State Police say.

In the assaults, which both occurred in Walkersville Community Park, the victims confirm similar descriptions of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a thin black man between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 150 pounds. His complexion is dark and he has short, even cut hair with little or no facial hair.

Additionally, there’s a potential witness in the April 6 incident. In interviews he’s described as a black man riding a black bike in the park area. He’s known to frequently bike there.

On April 6, two women, a 37-year-old and a 50-year-old, were on a trail at Walkersville Community Park when the suspect approached them from behind.

The man grabbed the younger victim from behind and tried to pull her pants down. The other woman fought to get the suspect off the younger victim, according to police.

The older woman called 911 and was assaulted by the suspect, police say.

The November victim was a 57-year-old woman who was walking with her 3-year-old grandson when she was attacked from behind. She fought him off and escaped.

Anyone with information about either case should contact the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150.
