Flags flying at half-staff for Patriot Day

The United States and Maryland state flags are to be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday.

President Barack Obama has ordered the flags to be lowered Tuesday in honor of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, in respect and memory of the victims who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Maryland flag is to remain lowered in memory of Corporal Charles Licato until the day of his interment.

This action is taken under the Protocol for the United States and Maryland State flags. Any questions on the above should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.
