FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick towing company owner and former mayoral candidate has been charged with assault following a dispute with a man.
The Frederick News-Post ( http://tinyurl.com/bwwlzdz) reports 50- year-old Clint Hoffman was also charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Police say a man confronted Hoffman on Saturday night after he saw a car being towed from a parking spot on Colonial Way. According to charging documents, Hoffman screamed at the man before pushing him and hitting him in the head with a strap that he was using to secure the car.
Hoffman disputes the charges, saying the man slammed into him twice as he was trying to hook up the car.
Hoffman has a history of run-ins with the city and police department over towing practices. He ran for mayor in 2009.
