Mostly to partly cloudy skies are expected across the D.C. region Tuesday, as milder air moves in. Morning temperatures start below freezing, so watch for a few icy patches. Temperatures climb noticeably compared to recent days, with some spots in the Shenandoah Valley nearing 60. Areas north and east stay cooler, mainly in the upper 30s to low 40s. Highs near the Capital Beltway may reach or slightly top the average high of 47 for the first time in more than two weeks.
Mostly cloudy skies continue Tuesday night, as temperatures stay above freezing. A weak cold front could trigger a few showers after 9 p.m., mainly in D.C.’s northern and western suburbs. A stray raindrop cannot be ruled out inside the Beltway around midnight.
Partly cloudy skies return Wednesday, with a brisk northwest breeze behind the cold front. Highs stay seasonable in the 40s, with colder air settling in overnight.
Another quiet and seasonably cool day arrives Thursday, with partly cloudy skies and a continued northwest breeze. Most areas remain dry, though the mountains may see a spotty shower.
Dry weather holds for Friday, with partly cloudy skies and seasonable highs in the mid‑40s.
