Wine by drone? It’s an experiment

NAPA, Calif. (AP) — The whine you hear in wine country — could be the sound of
drones.

Wine producers in California’s Napa Valley are experimenting with the use of
unmanned aerial vehicles, A-K-A drones.

Growers hope the mini-aircraft will prove helpful with chores like crop spraying
and irrigation.

Tractors have trouble negotiating the steep slopes in the Napa Valley.

But Daniel Bosch, a manager at the Robert Mondavi Winery, is still skeptical.

He says not much time is saved if someone has to monitor the drone. But he sees
potential if the process can be automated.
